Founded in 1967 in Phenix City, Alabama, along the banks of the Chattahoochee River just across from Columbus, Georgia, Phenix Foundry began with a simple mission: to deliver high-quality gray and ductile iron castings that meet the exacting needs of our customers.
First Automated Mold Handling Line – 1970s In the 1970s, we moved into our current facility to accommodate our first automated mold handling line.
This innovation allowed us to improve production efficiency, deliver more consistent metallurgical quality, and meet growing demand—all while maintaining the tight tolerances our customers rely on.
Second Automated Mold Handling Line – 1990s
The 1990s brought a major expansion with the addition of a second automated molding line. This increase in capacity and flexibility enabled us to produce an even wider range of castings—from ornamental iron and farm implements to impellers and railroad parts—faster and with the reliability that keeps our customers’ operations running smoothly.
Strategic Expansion – 2022
In late 2022, Phenix Foundry became part of the Metal Goods Manufacturing (MGM) family, an Oklahoma-based machine and fabrication shop specializing in valves and railroad tank car equipment. This partnership brings advanced machining capabilities directly to Phenix, enabling the delivery of high-quality finished parts from casting through machining, milling, drilling, threading, and more.
By integrating casting and machining under one point of contact, customers benefit from faster project turnaround, lower overall costs, and fewer vendors to manage. The seamless handoff between foundry and machining operations ensures consistent quality, reduces downstream rework, and supports smoother assembly and production—delivering faster projects and greater ROI.
